Be Aware Take Care LogoI help busy Professionals stay safe when they travel – either domestically or internationally.

Whether it’s handling the daily commute, navigating foreign cities or simply being aware of potential threats in Airports and Hotels – my training and techniques will help you and your team stay safe when going about your work.

“Being a frequent traveller I know the importance of avoiding conflict and Tony Willis has successfully captured the essentials on what to look for and how to act” - Magnus Lundgren , Strategic Sales Director Ericsson

As a Published Author & Founder of 5 Elements Academy, I deliver thought provoking conferences, 1:1 Coaching, and workshops in Personal Self Protection and Awareness; products include

What makes working with us different is that our training is built around my strong understanding of delivering at a senior level in the corporate sector. For many years I worked at a senior level for large corporations regularly travelling on business. That travel coupled with forty years of martial arts and self-defence training is the foundation for the training we provide.

My Training and Workshops are all delivered in an engaging, relaxed and informative style with key messages and principles that anyone can apply to their travel routines immediately.

Why risk your life and the future of your loved ones for what you would earn in less than 10 minutes, your ego can put you at serious risk.

Why risk your life and the future of your loved ones for what you would earn in less than 10 minutes, your ego can put you at serious risk.

The thief, stalker, terrorist, assailant, or drug addict needing their next high has made their career not by working long hours in the office but by long hours committing crime.

Like you, they also studied, not for a degree but body language and how to identify the most vulnerable.

They have probably already served at least one prison term and are not scared of any repercussions.

Ask people how much money they would give to be able to return home that night, safe, rather than their loved ones panicking as they haven’t returned home. That hard reality needs to be understood and its one we discuss repeatedly throughout my workshops.

For years I have told the story of a very senior member of staff who attended one of my workshops. He stated that no one would take his wallet, instead he would fight. How dare they take what he had worked so hard for. When asked if he would show his wallet, we found only a tiny amount of cash alongside plastic cards and a driving licence. Literally zero value.

Be Aware Take Care

Tradition matters and the reason why I havent been posting tips on situational awareness and personal security.Every year I take a group of students from my Martial Arts club to Thailand to train. They are often surprised the training is exactly the same as they are used to. There is no magic technique or trick they hadnt been taught. That can often deflate people as they then realise its just hard training and doing the drills. Damn.Of course they improve they get the chance to train 2 hours twice a day. 4 hours every day is hard but that amount of effort ensures they all improve. Thai boxing involves a number of traditions which in this country can often be watered down. However in Thailand they still hold true. Some of these include stepping into the ring over the top rope instead of going through the ropes. The routine called the Wai Kru which many westerners call a dance and the use of items such as the Mongkhron or headband which has its link to Buddhism . I always say to my students that to compete in Thailand as the only Farang or foreigner on a show is an honour. It is an experience they will remember for ever. My time away studying something Ive been involved in since a young teen is an honour and privilege. It does however mean I spend all my time on that business and not on my situational awareness training. However staying fit and mentally healthy is vital for all of us and all my years in martial arts have sustained me through a challenging corporate career and in 16 years of running my own businesses.#training #situationalawareness #mentalhealth #Security ... On top of the world. Well not quite - its no Everest but it felt good and what a view across the English countryside.I spend most of my time either in front of a pc screen, running situational awareness workshops, coaching self defence or martial arts. Tip of the week - How you get in and out of your car can leave you vulnerable to assault or robbery. In my 3 step system transitions are always considered but they are what most people forget or brush over. That change between two known states is a time of significant risk. With one leg inside and one outside of the car and the persons thoughts already moving onto the next part of their day they are more vulnerable than they need be.Instead of this which is the normal method most adopt try sitting 1st with both legs facing out and then swinging both into the vehicle together. It allows your alertness and situational awareness to remain active and enables you to employ both legs to kick off any assailant with you getting trapped half in the vehicle.#situationalawareness #people #assault #safety ... In Brazil you don't have to stop at a red light at night if the road is clear. I was in a taxi once and the driver would always approach red lights slowly so no need to stop. Maybe same in some other countries?
